To help you stay GDPR compliant, we’ve written some guides for you to follow to ensure your customer’s personal data is stored securely and legally.
For customers who book through Treatwell marketplace or directly with you using the Treatwell prepaid widget, you and Treatwell are joint data controllers of customer personal data.
However, for customers who book with you directly, Treatwell is acting as a data processor, and yourself as the data controller. This means that things work a little differently, but we’re happy to explain exactly how and when we would use that data:
Email/SMS Marketing
When adding your walk-in appointment to Connect, you should use the relevant tick box to select whether the customer would like to receive marketing content from you - this applies only to the emails you send via Connect marketing.
Treatwell will never send our marketing content to your direct customers unless they have booked via the Treatwell marketplace or a “Book Now” button previously and opted-in to Treatwell marketing at that point.
Automated messaging
Where we have a customer's email address and/or phone number (obtained from them booking on the Treatwell marketplace, a “Book Now” button or from you manually adding a customer to Connect) we will use this data to send them various automated messages.
Primarily, this is their confirmation email where they can manage their booking independently, but also includes appointment reminders, invitations to leave you a review, and to rebook an appointment*.
You have complete control over which of these additional messages you send, which you can read about in this article.
*When rebooking via this email, the booking is commission-free
The above information is also clearly explained in our Partner Terms. Otherwise, we would never use your direct client data for any other purposes, nor sell it to a third party.
