Selling treatment vouchers or gift cards in your salon is a great gift option for your loyal clients. Using Connect, you can record the sale of these vouchers so that they appear in your sales report for the day.
Selling a salon voucher
Depending on whether the vouchers you sell are designed and made in house or provided by a third party, it's likely that each one will have a unique code or reference number so that you can track who has purchased which voucher.
You can use this code to record the sale in Connect. If you don't use reference numbers, you might choose to use the name of the customer instead.
In both cases, make sure you collect a receipt for the transaction so that your cash balance is correct at the end of the day.
To register the sale of a new voucher:
- From your main calendar view, click "New sale" in the top left corner
- Choose "Sell voucher"
- On the next screen, enter the reference number of the voucher. You might also want to add the name of the person making the purchase.
- Enter the value of the voucher, and how many have been purchased
- Click "Add" and then "Checkout"
- The sale will now appear in your sales report
- Give the physical voucher to the customer, as well as a receipt
To register the sale of a new voucher as part of an existing booking:
- Click the appointment of the person who is purchasing the voucher
- Click "Checkout"
- Below the treatment summary, choose "Sell voucher"
- On the next screen, enter the reference number of the voucher. You might also want to add the name of the person making the purchase.
- Enter the value of the voucher, and how many have been purchased
- Click "Add"
- The appointment and voucher sale will now appear in your sales report
- Give the physical voucher to the customer, as well as a receipt
Processing a salon voucher
When a customer is ready to pay for their appointment, they might present you with one of your salon vouchers instead of wanting to pay in cash.
To register this payment:
- Collect the voucher from the customer
- Click on their appointment in Connect (you'll need to have added them as a walk-in appointment)
- Check out the booking as usual
- Add the voucher to your cash drawer, leaving a note of the name of the customer and what treatments they received
Currently, Connect doesn't have the possibility to track how many outstanding salon vouchers you have. If you'd like to track this, we'd recommend keeping a manual record of how many vouchers have been sold and which ones have been redeemed.
