When your menu is well-organised, it's easier for your customers to find what they're looking for quickly (meaning a higher chance of getting booked).
It also makes your profile look slick and professional, helping you create a good first impression.
We've studied the layouts that work best to achieve this, so you don't have to. We'll always set up your menu in this way initially, but if you want to add new services, this is the guide to follow.
Menu Groups
Make the booking experience smoother for your clients by organising services into groups (for example, 'Manicures & Pedicures' and 'Eyelash Extensions').
Each group should have up to around 10 services that fit within that treatment type (for example, a Hollywood wax shouldn't be hidden away in the 'Eyebrows & Eyelashes' group).
If you have many services of one type, you can make several groups to split them up, so each service is easy to find. For instance, 'Ladies - Hair Colouring & Highlights' could become two groups: 'Ladies - Hair Colouring' and 'Ladies - Highlights'.
How do I format group names?
When writing your group names, keep them consistent with capital letters at the start of each word (and everything else in lowercase).
Also, use the ampersand symbol (&) rather than the word ‘and’ (it keeps the names shorter). For treatments that tend to be gender-specific – particularly hair and waxing – make sure you put ‘Ladies’ or ‘Men’s’ in the group title so that clients can book the right service for them.
How do I add and edit group names?
We'll set up your menu groups for you initially, but if you do want to add more, follow these simple steps:
- Click 'Add New' at the top right corner of your menu in Connect
- Click 'Menu Group'
- Type in the group name and click 'Save'
- Hover over the three lines on the left of the name, then click and drag the group into the position you want
You can edit the name of a group by clicking on the pencil button the appears next to it as you move your mouse over the name.
How do I format service names?
Service names should also have capital letters at the start of each word, with everything else in lowercase (e.g., Ladies - Wash & Blow Dry).
It’s best if services within a group follow the same format with aspects like brackets and dashes. Want a time-saving tip? Choose a service from the ready-made list and edit its name as needed instead of writing its name from scratch. Check out this article for more info on adding services.
What order should I put groups and services in?
Putting the most popular services higher up means that clients looking for them will be able to find them easily and quickly. We recommend ordering the groups and services within them by popularity. We’ll always set up menus for you in the best order from the beginning, so it's best to slot in new services in accordance with the order you see at first.
