It's been what seems like an endless period of uncertainty – and we know you must be counting the days until you can reopen your doors. Closing a business – even if only temporarily – is painful for every salon owner and their team. We know that keeping your salon afloat has been a struggle for you and many others, and we've been helping you fight it in any way we can.
To help you make a strong comeback, we've created a guide for reopening your salon. In the guide, we’ll cover the ways Connect can help you get ready to reopen – from maximising your marketing reach to making sure your menu is spot on.
Update your calendar to maximise availability
Drive more people through your door by maximising your availability. Before you reopen, it's worth carefully reviewing your calendar to make sure everything is as it should be. There could be blocks you've created a while ago that are no longer needed and could be costing you precious appointments.
And, if there are any appointments your clients have booked with you (over the phone or by email, for example), make sure they're in there – and you won't have to worry about double bookings. Follow these easy steps to update your calendar.
Review and update your team list and their schedules
The closure period has been a real challenge for many businesses – and, like many others, chances are you're reopening your salon with a smaller team. Review your team member list and make sure everyone is still with you (just head to the Rota tab in Connect for the quickest and easiest way to do this). If a team member has left, remove them from Connect so that clients don't book services with specialists who are no longer working with you.
Your team may also have different work schedules now, so make sure those are updated. Here’s more on how to update your team list, and their schedules.
Check that your service list is accurate
Have a look at your service list, including prices and service duration. Are there any changes you need to make? Perhaps you’ve chosen to no longer offer particular services while you focus on others. Or maybe you’ve been considering offering extra services – but had no time to add them to your menu. Now is the time to do that. Make sure your service list is correct so that clients can know exactly what treatments they can book with you.
Add more clients to widen your reach
Adding clients to Connect may not seem that important right now, but it is an absolute must.
Our product team have prebuilt a free ‘Back in Business’ campaign, which is a quick and easy way to let your clients know you're open again. The campaign is multi-platform (it can be sent via email, text message, push notification, or shared as a prewritten Facebook post).
The more contacts are in the system, the more people will receive the good news. This, in turn, is likely to lead to more bookings – and a busier schedule.
Consider what your approach to discounting will be
It’s likely that many salons will be offering discounts to drive more bookings when they reopen. However, some may decide to freeze all discounts whatsoever. Before you reopen, it’s worth having a think about what’s best for your business, and what approach you’d like to take when it comes to discounts. With Treatwell Connect, you can apply a variety of discounts – from last-minute to smart and off-peak. It’s entirely up to you whether or not you do – you can add and remove them easily.
Add a ‘Book Now’ button to your salon Facebook page
Adding the booking widget to your salon page on Facebook, let your clients book you instantly, through your Facebook page. On top of that, you never pay any commission on bookings through your 'Book Now' button (not just during this challenging time) – and setting it up takes less than a minute. Just follow these simple steps.
Make your venue page look its best with team portfolios
There's no better time than now to wow your clients with your work. People often want to get a feel for a salon and the quality of work before they book – and that's what portfolios are for. Encourage your team to upload their portfolios for a quick and easy way to show off their best skills.
On top of that, we've just introduced a new gallery called 'Our Work' that automatically showcases your portfolio images under your service list. Your clients can see what you and your team do best as they look through your page. It's an easy way to show the work you're most proud of to a wider audience.
