General information about Treatwell POS
Treatwell POS would not be possible without Connect. Connect is a basic requirement for POS and involves the complete and accurate management of the Connect calendar, including all appointments, as these are checked out directly from the calendar software.
To use Treatwell POS, you must be able to use and work with Connect. It is crucial that you are familiar and have been trained with the handling of the calendar, and that all relevant data and information (e.g. services, employees, opening times, working hours and especially appointments) have been entered accurately and in full.
You can use Connect on your computer or via tablet with the ‘Treatwell Connect (for salons)’ app, this does not make a difference to the software features. The only differences will be in the way that they are displayed and in managing the Star Micronics mPOP cash drawer, as only the Connect app will prompt to open the cash drawer or print a receipt.
Note: Explanations which relate to the automatic opening of the cash drawer or automatic receipt printing always require that you are using the ‘Treatwell POS Setup’ (which consists of the Star Micronics mPOP and the Connect app on the iPad or Android tablet).
The basic principle of the Treatwell POS Module
Every time you complete a transaction in the Treatwell POS module which affects your cash flow (e.g. checkouts, refunds, cash deposits and cash withdrawals), the operation will be recorded and the time and date will always be saved and archived.
The above functions are only available if the present business day is open. The present business day is open if a ‘day-end closing’ had been carried out for the previous business day and has not been carried out for the present business day yet. It is important to note that the ‘day-end closing’ can be carried out exactly once every day. It is irrevocable and cannot be changed or corrected.
In terms of your day to day business, this will likely resemble this: If you do not carry out the ‘day-end closing’ in the evenings, you will have to carry it out first thing the next day to be able to activate the POS module functions for the present day. Naturally the system will keep record of when exactly the ‘day-end closing’ was carried out as well, e.g. on the next day.
The same applies for transactions: It does not matter on which day an appointment is scheduled in the calendar. The transaction will always be recorded for the day and time it is carried out, thereby if you were to refund a transaction from another day, the end of day report will stay unchanged. The refund would run in the day-end closing of the day on which it was actually carried out. As a user you should always keep this in mind. It is essential that you record each and every money flow in the Treatwell POS module carefully - and carry out a correct ‘day-end closing’ at the end of each business day.
The Treatwell POS module is cloud based. Your (master) data will not be archived and stored on your devices but on our servers. This will not only simplify the installation and the access, but will make sure that all devices are processing the same data record. For example, should you use your calendar on a computer with a big screen and do the checkout on the iPad, this setup will be a technical prerequisite on the one hand and on the other a great advantage for your daily business.

We try to be your partner in many matters, but there are certain subjects we have to leave to other experts, e.g. questions related to tax and accounting. The Treatwell POS module supports exactly one type of hardware cash drawer with integrated receipt printer: the Star Micronics mPOP. The mPOP looks great, is easy to set up with the iPad as well as with Android Tablets and can seamlessly be controlled by our ‘Treatwell Connect (for salons)’ app. If you have one of the latest iPads, you should be able to use this as long as it has the minimum requirement of iOS version 9 installed. If you want to use an Android tablet at least Android version 5 has to be installed on the device. The receipt printing and the automated opening of the cash drawer is only supported by this so called ‘Treatwell POS Setup’.
